Q: If my child does not make the 7th grade team will they still have time to register?
A: Yes; we will extend registration for 7th grade players through Wednesday, October 30th.
Q: When and where are Evaluations?
2nd Grade Boys – Sunday, October 27th @ 4:00pm (Homewood Middle School)
3rd Grade Boys – Sunday, October 27th @ 2:00pm (Homewood Middle School)
2nd – 3rd Grade Girls – Monday, October 28th @ 6:15pm (Edgewood Elementary)
4th – 5th Grade Boys – Sunday, October 27th @ 3:00pm (Homewood Middle School)

Q: My child will not be able to attend Evaluations?
A: Please try your best to make it to evaluations especially if this will be your child’s first year playing in the Homewood League. We will not have a make-up date for Evaluations. Evaluations are used to help us separate the teams as evenly as possible.
Q: Is placement on a team guaranteed?
A: Yes, as long as you register your child before the registration deadline.
Q: Can my child play in a higher age group?

Q: When will practice sessions begin?
A1: Most teams (2nd – 7th grade) will begin practice sessions the first week of November 2013. Your child’s coach will contact you with the location and the exact date and time.
A2: Coed/Developmental (K-1st grade) will begin practice sessions the second Saturday of January 2014. Your child’s coach will contact you with the location and the exact date and time. Coed/Developmental (K-1st grade) practices and games will only be held on Saturdays.
Q: When and where does the basketball teams practice?
A: Once or twice a week teams will practice on weeknights at the Lee Center, Exceptional Center, Edgewood Elementary, Shades Cahaba Elementary and Hall-Kent Elementary. Coaches will get to pick their practice days, times and locations. The younger age groups are encouraged to practice during the earliest available time frame.
Q: When do the league games begin?
A1: 2nd-7th grade games will begin on or around the first weekend of December 2013. Actual start dates will depend on registrations and gym availability.
A2: K-1st grade games will begin the third or fourth Saturday in January.
Q: When are the games played?
A1: Saturdays only during the regular season, depending on gym availability games could be played between 9am – 5pm.
A2: During the end of the season tournament there is a chance that some games could be scheduled during the week.
Q: How long is the Youth Basketball season?
A1: (2nd-7th grade) the season usually begins in early November and runs through late February.
A2: (K-1st grade) the season usually begins in early January and runs through late February.
Q: What does the registration fee cover?
A: Jersey, shorts, referees and awards for teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place. All K-1st graders playing in the coed developmental league will receive an award.
Q: What type of shoes does my child need?
A: We prefer high top basketball shoes.
Q: Does this league travel to play games?
A: Our goal is for enough girls and boys to register so that we can have enough teams in each age group so that teams do not have to travel to play games. However in past years, sometimes the girl’s teams have had to travel to Vestavia and/or Trussville.
Q: How can we help so that we don’t have to travel to play games?
A: Recruit children to play (especially girls).
