April 2014 Construction Updates

- Total of 690 employees have been through safety orientation.  Averaging 60 employees onsite daily.

April construction events:

- Ground Polished Dyed Concrete will complete.
- Door and accessory installation will complete.
- Ceiling tile installation will complete.
- Finish paint will complete within 2 weeks.
- Cleaning and Punch at Level 0 is ongoing.
- Cleaning and Punch at Level 1B will begin on 4/7.
- Pool tile will continue.
- Pool equipment installation will complete.
- Placement of pool decks will continue.
- Placement of pavement at the parking lots will complete.

March 2014 Construction Updates

- 640 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 65 employees onsite daily.

 March construction events:
- Gym floor wood installation will complete
- Sanding and finishing of the east gym flooring will complete
- Installation of toilet partitions on Level 0 and Level 1B
- Fitness flooring in weight/cardio room will complete
- Stucco installation will complete
- Wood flooring in the fitness studios will complete
- Continue curb and gutter installation on the south side
- Ground polished dyed concrete installation will begin
- Pool piping will continue
- Pool equipment and pump installation is ongoing and will continue
- Pool deck preparation will begin
- Pool retaining wall will complete
- Stone at pool retaining wall will continue

February 2014 Construction Updates

- 569 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 54 employees onsite daily.

 

The below is a brief summary of work completed:
- MEP OH rough in at Level 0 and Level 1 is 95% complete.
- Roof installation is 95% complete.
- Gypsum board installation throughout building is 95% complete.- Pool
– Vortex pool walls and slab have been placed. Competition pool slab has been placed.
- Prime paint is 85% complete throughout the building.
- South retaining wall is completed.
- Gas is on to the building. Water tie in is being completed.

Construction Look Ahead:
- Resinous Flooring at Level 0 will complete.
- Plumbing fixtures at Level 0 will begin.
- Acoustical Ceiling Grid will complete at Level 1B.
- Prime Painting will complete at Level 1.
- Athletic Equipment at the Gym will complete.
- Track flooring and gym flooring will begin.
- Forming of the pool walls will complete.

Overall Project Schedule
- The overall project is currently tracking on schedule for an early April construction completion.
-Architectural finishes are being installed on Level 0, and will soon begin on Level 1.
- Exterior skin work including roofing, air barrier, and brick is progressing. Poor weather conditions over the past few weeks have had some adverse effect, but great progress continues.
-  Grading and installation of the North parking lot curb has completed. Following completion of the North parking and completion of exterior skin activities, the site contractor will begin work on the main parking lot adjacent to the Community Center. BLHI has been working directly with the Exceptional Foundation to help coordinate and plan this work.

Brief summary of work in January:
- Roof work will complete
- Brick installation will complete
- Exterior Framing and Stucco installation will continue
- Acoustical Ceiling Grid on Level 0 will complete
- Prime Paint in the gym will complete
- Hanging of wall board in Area offices will complete
- Rough in of the main pool slab will continue
- Main floor slab of pool will be placed

- Overall project is currently tracking on schedule.

Brief summary of completed & ongoing work:
- Roof at Gym is complete
- Slab on grade at Gym and office area is complete
- Metal stud framing for office walls is going
- CMU at Level 1 is near completion
- Exterior brick is ongoing and approximately 50% complete
- Exterior window installation is ongoing
- MEP overhead at Level O is near completion
- Pool: underground rough in ongoing
- Pool: 1st slab pour has been completed

Construction look ahead:
- Tile and paint will complete on Level 0
- Concrete will be placed at the track
- Painting will begin at Level 1  -Fitness Areas
Roofing operations will complete at the event room, office area and fitness areas.
- Forming of pool walls to begin

- Overall project is currently tracking on schedule.

Brief summary of completed & ongoing work:
- Bar joist installation at the gym is 75% complete
- Structural steel at at office area and event room are near completion
- Slab on grade at gym concrete is complete
- Bar joist installation at the gym is complete
- Roof installation at gym is near completion
- Pool foundations – drilled piers, grade beams and rock anchors installation is complete

Construction look ahead:
- Bar joist / steel installation at the office area and event room to complete
- Electrical, mechanical and plumbing overhead rough in installation will continue at Level 0 & Level 1
- MEP overhead work at gym area will begin
- installation of the exterior skins including brick, stucco and windows will continue

- Overall project is currently tracking on schedule.

Brief summary of completed & ongoing work:
- Building foundations are complete
- CMU installation at Level 1 about 50% complete; load bearing CMU at gym walls are complete
- Rough in for bathrooms and showers at Level 0 is near completion
- CMU at Event Room 50% complete
- Bar joist installation at the gym is 75% complete
- Structural steel at at office area and event room have started
- Hollow core (slab/floor for Level 1 above Level 0 area) has been set
- Underground rough in (plumbing and electrical) is complete at Level 0; Level 1 is ongoing
- Installation of the pool grade beam is ongoing

Construction look ahead:
- CMU installation at Level 1 will continue. Immediate focus is Level 1 offices, fitness areas and Event Room.
- Underground rough in for plumbing and electrical at Level 1 continues
- Bar joist installation at Gym will continue
- Start brick at North elevation (Back of gym)
- Roof decking installation at Gym will begin
- Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing rough in will continue
- Rock anchor installation and grade beam installation at the pool will continue

- 170 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 40 employees onsite daily (as of: 8/27/2013)
- Overall project is currently tracking on schedule.

Brief summary of completed & ongoing work:
- Underground utilities including site water, sewer, and storm drainage are complete within and around the immediate perimeter of the building pad.
- CMU installation at Level 0 is complete
- CMU installation at Level 1 is 40% complete
- Below grade waterproofing at Level 0 is 90% complete
- Structural steel at Level 0 is 10% complete
- Underground rough in (plumbing and electrical) is 90% complete at Level 0
- In-wall rough in at Level 0 is 85% complete
- Installation of drilled piers at the pool is complete

Construction look ahead:
- CMU installation at Level 1 will continue. Immediate focus is N and S gym walls.
- Underground rough in for plumbing and electrical at Level 1 continues
- Water main, fire water main and sanitary sewer main installation continues.
- Foundations at Level 1; administrative offices and event room areas
- Installation of structural steel at level 0 continues
- Hollow core installation at Level 0/1 will begin
- Rock anchor installation and grade beam installation at the pool to begin

Construction Tasks: August

Level 0 – Pool Area
- 145 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 45 employees onsite daily (as of: 8/7/2013)
- Foundations at Level 0 are complete.
- Slab on grade pour for the North section of Level 0 will take place week of August 5th.
- CMU block at Level 0 will continue following slab on grade pour.
- In wall rough in of electrical and plumbing is ongoing.
- Underground installation of the pool piping at the pool equipment pit is ongoing.
- Excavation of the pool will complete.
- Drilled shafts located beneath the pool will begin week of 8/5.
- Rock anchors will begin following completion of drilled shafts.

Level 1 – Main Floor
- Block work portions of the North and South Gym wall will “top out”.
- Foundations of gym will complete.
- Foundations of office area will complete by mid-August.

Construction Tasks: Mid July

- 94 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 44 employees onsite daily (as of: 7/17/2013)
- Foundations at Pool Level are 95% complete
- Foundations at Gym Level are 50% complete
- Underground rough in of electrical and plumbing continues
- CMU block wall installation is ongoing
- Waterproofing of foundation wall at Level 0 is ongoing.
- Excavation of pool is ongoing
- Foundation for new pool to begin by late July.
- Site utilities install including water, sewer and storm drainage continues

Construction Tasks: Early July

- Backfill of the North Retaining wall has been completed.
- Construction of the foundation wall is ongoing and will complete in early July.
- Underground rough in for plumbing and electrical at level 0 (Pool) continues.
-  Water main, fire water main, and sanitary sewer main installation continues.
- Foundations at Level 0 (Pool) will complete in early July.
- Foundations at Level 1 – Area A (Gym) are ongoing.
- Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) installation at Level 0 (Pool) is ongoing.
- CMU installation at Level 1 will begin early to mid July
- Excavation for the new pool will begin early to mid July.

June 2013 Construction Tasks

- 50 Total employees have been on the job site and underwent BL Harbert’s safety orientation; averaging 15 employees onsite daily (as of: 6/5/2013)
- North Retaining wall completed.
- Back-fill of the North retaining wall with stone is ongoing.
- Foundation construction for the cast in place foundation wall along Column Line 18 completed.
- Construction and spread of foundations at Level 0 (Pool Level – patio area, men’s and women’s locker areas) will continue.
- Construction of the foundation wall is ongoing and will complete the last week of June.
- Underground rough in for the plumbing, electrical and pool piping at level 0 is ongoing.
- Installation of 36” reinforced concrete pipe for the storm system at the North East portion of the site has been completed.
- Installation of 60” reinforced concrete pipe at new parking lot has been completed.
- Water main, fire water main, and sanitary sewer main installation will begin late June – early July.
- Foundations at Level 1 – Area A (Gym) to begin late June – early July.

May 2013 Construction Tasks

- Excavation, forming, and placement of the foundation for the North Retaining wall.
- Veterans Landscaping anticipates completing a significant portion of the cast in place – North Retaining wall during the week of 5/6/13.
- Fine grading of the building pad at Pool Level will be completed week of 4/30/13.
- Amason and Associates (Bid Package 3) will mobilize week of 5/6/13.
- Foundation wall and corresponding foundations along Column Line 18 at Pool Level are anticipated to begin week of 5/13/13.
- Construction of the foundations at Pool Level (Patio Area, Mens and Womens Locker areas) is anticipated to begin
- Excavation and site preparation for the new pool area is anticipated to begin week of 5/20/13.

Demolition Phase (February 4th – March 13th)

Demolition of Homewood Community Center & sorting of materials for recycling. Original Homewood Pool was found buried under most current pool at site. This added several days to this phase of project; due to having to excavate a second unknown pool.

 Pre Demolition Phase (January 14th – February 3rd)

This phase consists of asbestos abatement, utilities being disconnected, trees removal, silt & site fencing installed, early demolition of: Pavilion #1, House on Manhattan St. and BBQ Pit.
